About Us

Back in 1988, Dan and Linda Valent were in search of a property on Long Lake in Hale, Michigan. Dan grew up in Whittemore, while Linda had family in Hale.

Dan, a retired truck driver, and Linda, a nurse, stumbled upon Long Lake Resort while stopping for a drink at Corky’s Corner store. They noticed the “for sale” sign, but were skeptical about the price. During their search they met Carol Wilson from Carol Wilson Reality and with her guidance, they discovered their future at the Long Lake Resort. 

Upon moving into their new home, which was once the Camp Grand Restaurant transformed into a cozy two-bedroom house, Dan and Linda embarked on a thrilling adventure. However, the reality of owning a resort quickly set in. With the support of family and friends, they began the journey of revitalizing the property.

Over the years, Dan and Linda have poured their hearts into enhancing Long Lake Resort, from meticulous cleaning and upgrading interiors to envisioning future improvements. Their dedication shines through in every aspect of the resort’s transformation.

Looking ahead, they have exciting plans to modernize the exterior, add amenities such as new picnic tables, fire rings, and a gazebo for gatherings, ensuring that every guest experiences the utmost comfort and enjoyment during their stay.

Beyond their role as resort owners, Dan and Linda cherish their roles as parents to two children and grandparents to four grandchildren. Their commitment to family, community, and creating memorable experiences is at the core of everything they do at Long Lake Resort.
